Frequently Asked
Questions...
" He has your chin", "She has my nose"... Primarily, 3D ultrasound offers more detailed images of the baby's face or body. Our ultrasound images far surpass traditional 2D images providing easy understanding and visualization. 3D ultrasound allows the expecting mother and guests to clearly visualize the baby and family traits. Most importantly, 3D ultrasound can encourage maternal well-being through bonding with and the subsequent better care for the developing baby. We hear all of the time, “Now, it seems so real!” and its often the father who gets the most from the visit. The family really does come together!
Everything! The Full Package or Can't Wait Special will give you 4 color 3D ultrasound photographs, 4 black and white ultrasound photographs, a 30-minute video of the entire ultrasound experience, a CD containing every 3D ultrasound image (generally between 10 and 30 individual images), gender determination, an estimate of the fetal heart rate, a determination of the fetal position at the time of imaging, and other useful information. All-inclusive packages range from $150-$225 depending upon location. Please call or visit the locations page for site-specific information.
At Womb With A View®, we will always do our very best to obtain great pictures, but it may not always be perfect. If your baby is persistently looking towards the spine it may be difficult to see your baby's face. If this happens we will make several attempts during your session to achieve the best picture possible. Please keep in mind we can not make promises that the images we obtain will be similar to any you have seen else where or even from one of our locations. Every baby scans differently, depending on it's position, age and mother's condition. We promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible images of whatever parts of your baby that can be seen.
Depending on the package you choose, your session will last between 15 and 30 minutes. If you purchase our Can't Wait Special, then you will have two sessions. The first session at 20 weeks, which will take approximately 15-20 minutes. The second session will be scheduled between weeks 28-32 and will take approximately 15-30 minutes.
While anytime is a great time for the visualization of your baby, gender determination is most accurate if made after twenty weeks. 28-32 weeks is the best time for 3D visualization of the baby. Prior to 24 weeks the fat has not yet defined the baby and while 3D ultrasound images are obtainable, truly beautiful ultrasound images require fat deposits and fetal development. While excitement abounds, our experience has led us to encourage mothers to wait for the appropriate time in order to get the most from her visit. This is your time and the truth is that your patience will benefit the bonding experience and provide for significantly improved ultrasound image quality.
We recommend that you wear two-piece outfits for ease and comfort. Easy access to the baby makes for a comfortable and enjoyable experience. A dress is definitely not recommended.
Only specifically trained and experienced 3D ultrasound technicians provide ultrasound imaging services. Some are licensed medical technologists (ARDMS) who have embraced 3D ultrasound technology while others are trained exclusively in the art of 3D ultrasound imaging. All of our technicians focus on the mother first and maintain the high-standards required of Womb With a View® technicians.

While no detrimental effects from the responsible use of ultrasound have been definitively proven, the FDA and American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) openly discourage the use of ultrasound unless medically necessary. For more information on ultrasound please visit www.ob-ultrasound.net, a website by Dr. Joseph Woo for a complete history of the development and use of ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
